Accommodation - University of Leeds

Viewing Day 2017

Planning your day

All our undergraduate residences (except Smaller Residences) will be open and you should easily be able to view five or six on the day.

Although the majority of our prospective students are allocated their chosen residence, like most universities we cannot guarantee that you will be given your first choice. So it's a good idea to look at a variety of our accommodation options if you have the chance.

In advance of the day

We recommend that you spend some time looking at our accommodation web pages and our Viewing Day Guide prior to the event in order to select the residences you are interested in looking at.

You can see a profile of all our accommodation under Residences on this website, including gallery pictures and maps. In this section, accommodation is categorised as either Catered or Self Catered (although Devonshire Hall offers both). Our Facilities Overview also offers a handy chart which allows you to compare facilities between the residences.

Once you have chosen which residences you want to see, you can then decide how you will get to the University and between the residences you wish to view.

Visiting campus facilities

Viewing Day is also a great opportunity to see some of our impressive on-campus facilities. You can take a tour of two of our main campus sights – The Edge, our state-of-the-art sports centre and swimming pool, and our award winning Students’ Union. There's no need to book, just go to the building you would like to see. Tours will start and finish at the main entrance of the building - just look out for our student ambassadors. Tours run from 9:30am – 4.30pm at regular intervals and last approximately 15 minutes.

Visitors with disabilities

If you have a disability and require specifically adapted accommodation, or you are a wheelchair user and require an alternative means of transport to view the residences, please email Accommodation Services prior to your visit at

Weather watch!

Please ensure that you dress appropriately for the weather; unfortunately there's no shelter for visitors waiting outside for a shuttle bus. Take a look at the weather forecast nearer the day, so you can plan whether to bring an umbrella or sun cream!

Staying overnight

Whether close to the city centre or a little further out, Leeds offers a wealth of options if you would like to stay overnight. For general overnight accommodation options in Leeds visit the Visit Leeds page.
