What happens next?

When you submit your application you'll see an acknowledgement page and a summary of your form. You will also receive an email summarising your application which you should keep for later reference. If you do not receive this email by the following day, please contact us.

First year undergraduates and exchange students

Although we can't guarantee to give you your first choice of residence, we'll make every effort to find you somewhere suitable. This is why on the application form we ask you to tell us what is important to you about your accommodation choice - en-suite facilities or cost, for example. If you have any additional requirements they'll be taken into account - please give us as much information as you can on your application form and/or complete an Additional Requirements form.

If you have an unconditional offer at Leeds, we will allocate your accommodation by 1st August. If your offer becomes unconditional before 9th July, we will allocate your accommodation by 1st August. If your offer becomes unconditional after 9th July, we will usually allocate your accommodation after A-Level results have been published.

Don't worry if your friends find out where they have been allocated before you do. We have nearly 8000 applications to deal with and have to send them out over a number of weeks.

Postgraduate and International Foundation Year students

We will usually email you in June or July to give you additional information about accommodation, and ask you to confirm your preferences. You must reply to this email - we will then allocate your accommodation from late July to early September.

Accepting a contract

Once we've allocated your accommodation we'll send you an email to the email address you gave to UCAS, or to the University (if you are not applying through UCAS). Sometimes, our emails will automatically go into your junk mail or spam mail folders so make sure that you check these regularly.

The email will give you a link to the accommodation portal, where you will be able to see your online contract for accommodation. You should read this carefully, including the terms and conditions, and then accept the contract and pay the deposit within 4 days. After you have accepted your contract, we will send you an email inviting you to complete our online induction programme. You may receive this up to 2 weeks after you have accepted your offer.

When you accept the offer online, this creates a legally binding contract for the time period stated (usually for the whole academic year from September to June). Make sure that you are fully aware of your legal commitments before you accept.

REMEMBER: PLEASE ACCEPT YOUR CONTRACT AS SOON AS YOU RECEIVE IT.
