How to Pay
Paying your rent - SEMESTER 1 CONTRACT ONLY (2016/17)
Please note: This information is for SEMESTER 1 (2016/17) contract instalment plans. If your contract is not for Semester 1 only, please use the links on the left hand side
Students in University accommodation for semester one only are limited to the number and type of instalments they can have.
The available options will show when you start to complete the instalment plan but are listed as follows:
- Full payment of fees online or by cheque by 24th October 2016
- 3 monthly instalments by automatic debit/credit card on 24/10/2016, 24/11/2016 and 24/12/2016
If you are an International student who is planning on opening a bank account on your arrival in the UK, you can set up your instalment plan once you have received your bank details. Please note that you must set up your instalment plan before the 12th October 2016. After this date, you will no longer be able to pay in instalments and your fees are payable in full, immediately.
The online instalment plan
Once you have chosen a payment option, complete the instalment plan form that can only be found online here. It will be available from 14/07/2016 to 12/10/2016 (if you do not set up an instalment plan by 12/10/2016 your accommodation fees are payable in full, immediately.) But you must still accept your contract and pay the deposit within the 4 day deadline.
Your accommodation statement
A statement will be sent to your University e-mail address at the start of term (usually around the first week in October) showing the amount due. Payment must be made on or before the due dates shown. Payment method information is shown below.
Instalments by automatic debit/credit card payment
If you have chosen to pay by automatic debit/credit card, your accommodation fees for the session will be divided into 3 equal instalments, and payment will be automatically collected from your chosen card on 24th October 2016, 24th November 2016 and 24th December 2016.
There are no additional charges for automatic payment by debit/credit card.
Payment in full at the beginning of the Academic year by manual payment
If you choose to pay your accommdation fees in full, payment must be made on or before the due date of 24th October 2016. Payment in full can be made using one of the manual payment methods outlined below.

Payment directly into the University bank account (Bank Transfer)
If you are paying by international bank transfer please note that this can take several weeks for the funds to reach us and you may be charged bank fees. If you pay via this method, we can only refund any overpayments via this method. Again, this can take several weeks to process, and you may be charged fees by the bank.
When making payment direct to the University bank account you must quote your name and your student (ID) number.

Payment by Cheque
Cheques must be made payable to "The University of Leeds". When making a payment by cheque, you must write your name and your student (ID) number on the back of the cheque. Your ID number is shown on the top right hand corner of your statement (e.g. R200200200). Send your cheque to:

Please note: Receipts will not be issued for cheques received by post unless requested.
Payment by cash
For your safety and to ensure compliance by the University with banking and financial legal requirements, you should not pay your fees using cash. If you do need to pay by cash, please take this in person to the Cash Services, Student Services Centre, Marjorie and Arnold Ziff Building and bring your residence bill with you. Cash must not be sent through the post.
Please note: The University is unable to accept cash payments totalling more than £3500 in any academic year.
Due to financial regulations, if you pay in cash and require a refund, we will only be able to do so if you are able to provide proof of where the funds came from. This can often be quite difficult and time consuming. Where possible, please try to pay by an alternative method.
