Accommodation - University of Leeds

Parents' Pages

The application process

We guarantee an offer of accommodation to new, single, undergraduate students providing they have applied by the 1st July deadline. Those applying after the deadline (or through clearing) are not guaranteed accommodation, but we will try very hard to make them an offer.

We house nearly 8,000 students in our accommodation and this is mostly new, undergraduate students. We also house postgraduate students and returning undergraduate students. However, we always house new undergraduates together so your son or daughter's flatmates will also be new to Leeds and the University.

Prospective undergraduates who have selected Leeds as their firm choice on UCAS should apply for accommodation by 1st July to meet our guarantee. Students who have selected Leeds as their insurance choice on UCAS should apply for accommodation once their place to study at Leeds has been confirmed, i.e. they have accepted an unconditional offer to study at Leeds after receiving their results. The deadline for insurance choice students in 1st September. The online application opens on the 1st November each year.

Please let us know if your son or daughter has any medical or dietary requirements that we may need to take into consideration when allocating their accommodation. Any prospective students with medical requirements will need to submit medical evidence whilst completing their accommodation application, and they should also complete an additional requirements form and returned to us via email.

If your son or daughter changes their mind or decides to defer after having their place at Leeds confirmed, they should call us to let us know. If they are returning to Leeds the following September, they will to apply for accommodation again after the 1st November. They may need to contact us after the 1st November so that we can make their application 'live' for the next academic year.
