Information for parents about covid-19

How are we supporting students who are self-isolating?

We know that you will want to be sure that your son or daughter are living somewhere safe and secure and that they will be supported during the time they are away from home. Hopefully, the following information provides many of the answers to questions that you might have.

Their academic school and other support services are here to help them. Please see our information about how we can support students during self-isolation. This includes information about getting food and essential items while self-isolating, and how to access healthcare if they need it. Students can email helpandsupport@luu.leeds.ac.uk or phone 0113 3801 400 if they need help.

If students need to self-isolate on arrival in the UK and would like to request a food, kitchen or bedding pack, they should complete the international arrivals form

To make sure that students within our residences have everything they need we are in contact with all students who have reported to us that they are self-isolating and offer ongoing support to those who require it. Members of our Residence Life team are also always available to offer help and support if it is needed.

We have put together some information to help students with self-isolating in our residences here, as well as some FAQs and a guide to help with ordering food and other essential items to residences.

Our Residence Life team is also providing a range of activities to help students make friends and socialise in a safe and enjoyable way. These vary from virtual events to things that can be done as a household. Find out more on the Residence Life Facebook page.

Testing at the University of Leeds

The University has allowed the national NHS Test and Trace service to site a test centre at the Gryphon Centre on campus so that we can support students and staff, given its proximity. It is not a University testing facility – it is there for the city of Leeds and is also being used by local residents. When students book a test they will be told which test centre to go to by the NHS online booking system.
