Starting university is a really exciting time, but we understand that, as a parent, you can also feel anxious about your son or daughter moving away from home.
We hope the following information will help explain the accommodation application, allocation and payment process.
Our parents' newsletter also has tips for moving into our accommodation and keeps you up to date with important information regarding accommodation throughout the year.
We guarantee an offer of accommodation to new, single, undergraduate students who have applied by the 1 July deadline. Prospective students who apply after the deadline (or through clearing) are not guaranteed accommodation, but we will try very hard to make them an offer.
We always house new undergraduates together so your son's or daughter's flatmates will also be new to Leeds and the University.
We also house postgraduate students and returning undergraduate students.
Welfare and Support
Within residences, there is support available to students 24 hours day, in addition to the support provided by other departments in the University.
All University residences have wardens – members of University teaching or administrative staff, who students can go to during term time for advice or for help sorting out any problems. Wardens are also responsible for maintaining discipline at the residence.
Most residences also have Subwardens (usually postgraduate or mature students), who live on site. This means in term-time there's someone on hand 24 hours a day in case of emergencies.
You can find out more about the support available on our welfare and support page.
