Fees and data protection
Your son or daughter will need to a pay a £200 deposit and set up an instalment plan when they accept their offer of accommodation.
This tells Student Finance (fees) how they intend to pay their rent. The instalment plan must be set up by the deadline to avoid the full amount being due immediately. Read paying your rent to find out more about instalment plans.
As the accommodation agreement is a contract between us and your son and daughter, we can only discuss specific details with them due to data protection regulations. Due to this any residence statements (accommodation bills) will be sent directly to your son or daughter’s University email address. This applies even if you as parent or guardian are paying the bill. They are of course free to forward these emails on to you.
We appreciate that this can be frustrating, but we have a responsibility to ensure that your son or daughter’s legal rights are respected. We are happy to discuss any general queries with you, and if there are any specific details that you need to discuss then we can do so with your son or daughter’s written permission.
Making a payment
You can make an accommodation fee payment online on behalf of your son or daughter:
- to pay the £200 deposit read paying your deposit.
- to pay accommodation fees/rent read paying your rent.
You'll need your son or daughter's Leeds student ID number to hand - the number that begins with 20. We cannot process the payment without this.
Moving out
All residents will be sent an email with details on what they need to do before leaving their accommodation, including information on deposit refunds. Our staff will remind them of this, but it is really important that they also return their keys and fobs to the residence office when they leave.
