17/12/2019: Christmas Closures
Most University Residences will be closing at 5pm on Monday 23 December 2019 and will reopen at 8am on Thursday 2 January 2020. Some sites will have different opening and closing times and all residents have been emailed in the past week informing them of their site specific office hours. At sites where we have Subwardens, they will be on-call for a limited period on these days, 23, 27, 28, 29, 30 Dec and are contactable on the Subwarden Duty number. All students living in our residences are also covered by our Security teams 24/7 and are available in times of emergency and can be contacted on the local Security numbers displayed throughout halls.
If students are staying in halls over Christmas, the International Student Office has put together the Christmas in Leeds guide which details all the events happening on and off campus over the winter vacation.

22/11/2019: House Hunting to beging on Sat 23 November 2019
Most students will be thinking about where you are going to live for 2020/21 and who with. There is plenty of accommodation in Leeds so they don’t need to rush. For private accommodation, they’re best looking through Unipol, they are a not-for-profit organisation and help students find good quality accommodation. Unipol’s website www.unipol.org.uk/leeds will show the properties available for 2020/21 from Saturday 23 November 2019. They are located at 155/157 Woodhouse Lane.Unipol have a useful House Hunting Guide which tells students everything they need to know. If they have not received one, they can ask for a copy from their residence site office.
Leeds University Union (LUU) has lots of information on their website about house hunting. Goto www.luu.org.uk/student-help-support. They can provide contract checking before students sign on the dotted line. The new Tenant Fees Act introduced in 2019 has now made various agent and landlord fees illegal. To find out more about what they can can and cannot be charged for by their agent or landlord by visiting https://www.unipol.org.uk/advice/landlords/tenant-fees-act-2019 .
Our Subwarden teams along with staff from Unipol and LUU have been round to every flat, talking to students first hand passing this information across as well as sending communications reassuring students and providing appropriate advice to help them in looking for private accommodation in 2020/21.
