Respecting others

Respecting others

Living closely with other people in University accommodation demands consideration and cooperation from everyone. Everyone has different habits, preferences and timetables, please consider other people.

Communal living requires some compromise and you’ll be living with people who may potentially have a different habits. To help you and your flat come together and get to know each other you’ll find a helpful Community Living Agreement in your flat when you arrive. This form give you the opportunity as a flat to discuss and form agreements on how’ll live together over the year.

Keep noise to a minimum – noise levels should never interfere with other people’s sleep, study or general comfort. Your neighbours could be students, elderly people or families. Please keep down any noise (whatever the source) to a reasonable level and reduce it immediately if someone asks you to. We also have quiet hours in halls from 11pm to 8am every day, during which no noise should be heard outside your room. During exam period in May this extends to 24 hours a day.

Request permission to hold a party in Halls – You should complete the Party request form and send this to your Warden. Await their approval before throwing the party.
