Undergraduate applicants

We provide over seven thousand undergraduates with accommodation every year. The majority of students are guaranteed a place in our accommodation.

If you still need to apply for a room, we will likely be able to assist you because we do still have accommodation available. Please submit an application as soon as possible. You can log in to and complete the application form via our Accommodation Portal. To access the Accommodation Portal for the first time, you will need to set a password using the 'Create Account' option. You will then receive an email with a link to create a new password. Once you have created a new password, you should log in with your email and your password.

We guarantee you an offer of University accommodation if you apply by the deadlines and you are:

  • a new 1st year undergraduate and not coming to Leeds through clearing
  • a new undergraduate exchange student
  • an international undergraduate – paying tuition fees at the international rate

Read more about the deadlines you must meet.

Deferral students

As a deferred student you should apply for your University accommodation via our accommodation portal from 1 November the year before you are due to start at University, in the same application period as other prospective students who will be in your academic year. See the information above for more information on deadlines and our guarantee.

If you are on one of the specific courses in the School of Law or Leeds University Business School and you have have accepted the deferral package offered, please see our deferral package accommodation information page for further details.

One semester exchange students

If you are coming to Leeds for one semester only, you will be given a shortened accommodation contract for either September - January (Semester 1 students) or January - July (Semester 2 students).

International Foundation Year students

As an international student, you are guaranteed accommodation as long as you apply by the deadline. You can apply for accommodation once you have accepted your offer on your online account. You'll then need to visit the Accommodation Portal to complete the online application. You'll need your Leeds student ID to apply, which can be found on your offer letter.

Pre-sessional English Language course students

If you are attending a pre-sessional English Language course in the summer, read about applying for your pre-sessional and your term-time accommodation in Pre-sessional language students.

Families

If you are coming to Leeds with your partner or children, we have some family accommodation close to the University but places are limited. Read Family accommodation.

Disclosing a medical condition or disability?

If you need any assistance or have specific requirements for your accommodation then we want to help. Our additional requirements page has further information about how we can make our accommodation work for you.

Current students

If you're an existing student at Leeds and you want to return to University accommodation, read Returning next year.

Clearing students

If you are coming to Leeds through clearing you can apply for accommodation two days after you have accepted your clearing offer through UCAS. You are not guaranteed a place in a University residence, but we are confident we'll be able to help you find accommodation. We won't be able to allocate your accommodation until late August/early September and you will hear from us by 10 September.
