Oxley’s impressive accommodation is located in attractive landscaped grounds, less than a mile from the popular student area of Headingley. It’s ideal for sporty students, with a new gym and fitness suite on site, and close to the University’s outdoor sports facilities. Oxley is a very sociable residence, with common areas and an on-site bar.

You don’t have to be a sports enthusiast to enjoy living here. Oxley also has its own music practice room and the peaceful, leafy surroundings are home to a community food growing project, where students grow their own food and learn more about sustainable production. 

The residences are made up of Oxley House and Bardon Grange (and 12 purpose built blocks). Most rooms have a washbasin and some of the larger standard rooms have a double bed. There are also 12 modern, purpose-built accommodation blocks, all en suite and with junior double beds.

Oxley House has a study area with computers, tables, chairs and comfy sofas. There are also a common room and pool room, laundry facilities and cycle storage. Oxley has its own bar and is just 20-minute walk from the shops, restaurants, bars and cinema in Headingley, one of Leeds' popular student suburbs. A frequent bus service running until 3 am links Oxley to and from campus and the city centre. There is limited parking at the residence for permit holders only. To request a permit, fill out the parking permit application form.

Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) cladding has not been used in the construction of Oxley Residences.

Oxley Residences also has many features that enable the safe evacuation of individuals, including a fire detection and alarm system that exceeds legislative requirements. The automatic L (Life) type alarm system ensures that all areas of your residence are covered by detection, including bedrooms, kitchens, plant rooms, and communal areas.  Other fire safety systems installed for your protection include:

  • Fire containment between rooms, flats and areas within buildings. Walls, ceilings and door sets are designed to resist and prevent the spread of fire long enough for you to safely escape the building.
  • Fire extinguishers and firefighting blankets in kitchens throughout the building(s).

In addition, we operate a system where local staff and fire wardens are trained to undertake proactive and reactive fire safety duties, which include building inspections and routine fire safety checks.
