Plan your day

All our 2023 undergraduate residences apart from Smaller Residences and Carlton Hill (which is still under construction) will be open and you should easily be able to view five or six on the day.

Although the majority of our prospective students are allocated their chosen residence, like most universities we cannot guarantee that you will be given your first choice. Therefore it is a good idea to look at a variety of our accommodation options.

Before the day

Before you arrive we recommend that you view our residences to see which accommodation you’d like to visit.

We also highly recommend that you read our Viewing Day Guide, which will be available in a digital format before the Viewing Day. This gives useful information on how to get here, various opening times and information on each of our residences. Copies will also be available on the day.

If you require any of the information contained in the guide in an alternative format eg Braille, large print or audio, please email disability@leeds.ac.uk.

Once you have decided which residences you want to see, you can then decide how you will get to the University and between the residences you wish to view. Most of our residences are a short walk from campus and shuttle buses are also available to take you between them. All of our residences are within 2 miles of campus. The shuttle buses will depart regularly from outside the University's main entrance on Woodhouse Lane and there will be helpers there to direct you to the right one.

Other activities

During the day we will also be offering other activities. There’s no need to book for these, and the Viewing Day Guide contains a map which will let you know where to find them:

  • Accommodation talks to provide you with more information on applying for University accommodation and how allocations work – these are half an hour and will run at 9, 10, 11 and 1
  • Tours of our newly refurbished campus sports centre The Edge, you get a free off-peak membership when you live in University accommodation
  • Tours of the award-winning Leeds University Union

Visitors with disabilities

If you have a disability and require specifically adapted accommodation, or you are a wheelchair user and require an alternative means of transport to view the residences, please email us prior to your visit at accom@leeds.ac.uk

Weather watch!

Please ensure that you dress appropriately for the weather; unfortunately there's no shelter for visitors waiting outside for a shuttle bus. Take a look at the weather forecast nearer the day, so you can plan whether to bring an umbrella or sun cream!

Staying overnight

Whether close to the city centre or a little further out, Leeds offers a wealth of options if you would like to stay overnight. We do offer a limited number of rooms in accommodation right on campus at Charles Morris Hall. You can apply via Meet in Leeds and for general overnight accommodation options in Leeds visit the Welcome to Yorkshire page.

If you can’t attend

If you aren’t able to attend our Viewing Day, don’t worry. There’s lots of information about all of our residences available on this website. We will also have a stand and accommodation talk running at the undergraduate offer holder events run by your academic School.
