If a student informs you of this information, please signpost them to completing this form and/or contact the Accommodation Office directly. We understand this may be a possibility and will have measures in place to support these students.

Can I move in early?

If a student has booked accommodation with us for the 2021/22 academic year, we encourage them to try and arrive as close to their contract start date as possible.

If, for isolation requirements, they need to arrive earlier then we will try to assist them on a case-by-case basis, dependent on which halls of accommodation they have booked. This is because we only have a limited number of rooms available for students arriving early at some sites. Students who may have such requests can this complete this form

Can I arrive early in order to quarantine in the halls of residence?

Students travelling from a red list country will be required to quarantine in a government approved quarantine hotel. Further information about this process can be found here

Due to Covid, my travel is delayed and I cannot arrive until a later date.

We understand the pandemic continues to present travel challenges to a number of students. If travel is disrupted for a student, we advise they contact the Accommodation Office in advance, provide evidence of the disruption and inform us of their new expected arrival date. Provided we receive advance notice and evidence, we will be able to adjust their contract start date to their new arrival date at no additional charge.

Can I be released from my contract?

Whether a student has arrived or not to the University, releasing students from their contract is dependent on a number of factors and we ask students to contact the Accommodation Office directly to discuss their specific request.

I have been offered University of Leeds accommodation and I am unhappy with the location

Accommodation at the University of Leeds is in high demand. We offer a range of accommodation for our students however some residences experience higher demand than others. As a result, some students may not receive an offer for the exact accommodation they would like. If a student expresses to you they are unhappy about their allocation, they should contact the Accommodation Office directly. Please note while we do our best, there is no guarantee we can amend their offer.

I have applied for my accommodation and have decided to decline or defer my offer at the University of Leeds

If a student wishes to decline or defer their place at the University of Leeds and now no longer has a requirement for accommodation, they should contact the Accommodation Office prior to the start of their accommodation contract to let them know.

  • If they are deferring their place then we will close their application and they can re-apply for 22/23 entry from 1 November 2021.

  • If they have accepted their contract offer but are now no longer wishing to stay in University of Leeds accommodation then there may be a £50 admin fee to cancel their contract.

  • If they have not accepted their contract offer and no longer wish to stay in University of Leeds accommodation then they can just decline their contract offer.
