Summer Events in the City

With the academic year coming to an end and the sun starting to show, summer is officially here!

If you’re looking for things to do in the city while enjoying the sun, there are plenty of events that happen every year in Leeds.

Leeds Festival

Every year over 80,000 music lovers venture to Bramham Park in Leeds to enjoy a weekend of incredible performances from artists covering a range of different genres.
Whether you’re into rock and indie music, or you’re a fan of electronic or pop, there are around 10 stages to explore and enjoy. The festival usually takes place over the bank holiday weekend at the end of August and is a firm favourite with Leeds locals.

Leeds West Indian Carnival

As one of the longest-running Caribbean carnivals in the UK, the Leeds West Indian Carnival is a date to have in your diary.
Taking place on Monday 28 August this year, the event has been running for over 50 years and showcases the city's diverse culture through colourful parades, mesmerizing music, dance performances, and incredible Caribbean cuisine.

Leeds Pride

If you’re looking to celebrate Pride this year, Leeds has an amazing celebration of all things LGBTQ+ every year! With a colourful and vibrant parade through the city, performances on the main stage at Millennium Square, and stalls to explore there is plenty for all to experience.
The event is a celebration of love, acceptance, and unity, and has been running for 18 years, taking over the city centre completely. This year’s pride will be on 6 August and is free to attend, so if you’re looking to celebrate, get involved and fly your flag!

This year’s line-up includes performances from Kasabian, Blossoms, The Wombats, Bastille, and many more. Grab a blanket, pack a picnic, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere in the heart of Leeds through July and August.

Leeds Waterfront Festival

Head down to the Docks on 1 or 2 July to embrace the beauty of Leeds’ waterfront. You can sign up to get involved with one of the dragon boat races with some of your friends, or just turn up to watch the teams compete.
There will also be street food vendors to try, a funfair, and plenty of time to stroll along the canal and soak up the atmosphere.
