Accommodation for Language Centre students

Language Centre students can choose from a range of accommodation options. You can make friends and join our student community by living in our university residences, or choose to find your own private accommodation.

Applying for university accommodation

If you are applying for University accommodation, the way you apply for accommodation will depend on whether you are studying at the Language Centre during the summer, or the rest of the year.

If you are arriving between October and June

To help you decide which accommodation is the best fit for you, take a look at our range of residences pages, which include information about catering, costs, location and travel. Please get in touch with us for details on how to apply.

If you are arriving in July or August

If you are starting a pre-sessional Language Centre course in July or August, you can apply for a place in University accommodation on or close to campus. Further details, including fees, are available here.

If you are starting the General English course you should apply for a place in University accommodation via our General English course application page.

Other types of accommodation

Private accommodation

If you wish to find your own private accommodation in Leeds, Unipol and Leeds University Union can help you with this.

Homestay accommodation

If you are studying at the Language Centre (or another University of Leeds school) and looking for short-term accommodation, then you could apply for Homestay accommodation and live with a local family. Unipol Student Homes manages the Homestay programme on behalf of the University and all Homestay hosts subscribe to an accreditation criteria called the Homestay code. This ensures that high standards are met and maintained within all Homestay hosts.

Homestay hosts offer a single bedroom, usually within 40 minutes of campus. You'll get breakfast and evening meals on weekdays, and breakfast, lunch and evening meals at weekends. Some hosts are flexible about meal provision. As well as improving your English, you learn lots about traditional British culture, it's a home from home! You'll also be supported by the Homestay Co-ordinator during your stay.
