Returning next year

We may be able to help you if you want to live in University accommodation again next year. Find out about the deadlines and how to apply.

Any current student can apply to return to University accommodation, but unfortunately we don't always have enough accommodation for everyone who wants it. This means we can only guarantee you can return to University accommodation if you are an international undergraduate (paying the full fees) or a student with disabilities and you apply before the deadline. We may not be able to offer your preferred accommodation.

How to apply

You can apply from Saturday 20th January 2018. This is the Unipol recommended house-hunting start date, which the University fully supports.

You must apply before 4pm on Friday 30 March 2018 at the latest.

Email Accommodation Services for an application form or visit us at the Student Services Centre in the Marjorie and Arnold Ziff Building. Please specify if you need a family application form. (We have limited family accommodation – read Family accommodation).

We allocate rooms on a “first come, first served” basis, so the sooner you apply, the better. If demand is high, we may need to close applications for some, or all, residences before the deadline date.

If you are applying with a friend or as part of a group, please make sure that you:

  • all put each other’s names on the application form
  • submit your forms together.

If you will be resitting exams over the summer, you must tell us as soon as you know.

If you are hoping to do a year abroad or year in industry but this has not yet been confirmed, you must tell us when you apply.

We may be able to offer you a short-term contract if your course requires it. Please give full details on your application form. If you will only be in Leeds for:

  • one semester or two terms (eg if you are going on an Erasmus exchange) - we may be able to offer you a short-term contract
  • one semester -we will usually be able to house you with friends who are here for the full year
  • two terms and will leave to do a third term abroad - we will need to house you with other students who need the same length contract.

What happens next?

We aim to send you a contract within a week of receiving your application.

When you receive your accommodation contract, you will need to accept it and pay £200 deposit within 4 days. You can pay online or in person at the Student Services Centre.

Please ensure that you give us an email address that you check regularly as we cannot be held responsible if you miss the deadline for accepting your offer. If you don't accept your contract and pay the required deposit within the timescale we won't be able to hold your room. If you're going to be away, give us an email address that you will be checking regularly so we can send the accommodation offer to you without delay.
